Patient Drop-Off Protocol
- PO encounters an individual in a mental health crisis. See admissions criteria for more information and check for availability 888-979-1288.
- Please call us, if you have questions or need assistance 888-979-1288. We are here to help.
- If the Individual in crisis agrees, PO delivers individual to Palms Behavioral Health for assessment, admission or referral. All patients are subject to a level of care assessment by a licensed clinician to ascertain if they are meeting criteria for acute psychiatric admission.
- PO will be on-site for a limited period, prior to assessment, but will provide a warm hand-off to the Palms representative. Information to include legal issues/status.
- Should the individual refuse but is deemed unstable or unsafe, PBH staff will proceed towards involuntary hospitalization.
- PO still does NOT have to wait with the individual during the assessment process.
- PO should use “best judgement” to determine if an individual is medically unsafe for transfer to Palms vs. the closest ER. If you would not transport in your vehicle, they probably need medical clearance prior to Palms acceptance. Please call if needed.
- Should an individual not accept Palms services after drop off and criteria is not met for an involuntary hold, Palms Intake staff are to inform Police Officer of status.
